One of the ultimate comfort foods is a juicy cheeseburger, but more often than not people tend to visit fast food restaurants to indulge in this savory treat. Let me tell you though, when you grill a homemade burger at home, it isn’t only healthier but much more satisfying. This recipe is a result of much experimentation and in my mind is finally perfected!
Burger of the Gods
Makes 4 burgers
- 16 ounces sirloin steak
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar powder
- 1 tablespoon reduced sodium worcestershire sauce
Trim the excess fat off the sirloin steak and cut into 1 inch cubes.
Pulse meat cubes in food processor until the meat has the appearance of ground meat.
Form into 4 equal size meat patties, and either using hamburger patty press or hands flatten into burger shape.
If barbecuing, grill 5 minutes per side over medium heat. If using a skillet, cook patty 4 minutes per side over medium-high heat. Do not squish the burger down while cooking as this releases the lovely juiciness of the burger creating a dry burger.
After taking off the heat, immediately top with choice of cheese. I always used extra sharp cheddar. Place on a sesame seed burger bun. The toppings I use are ketchup, mayonnaise, yellow mustard, plenty of fresh tomatoes, and onions.
Cut burger in half and enjoy!
